I have been thinking about the multitudes, as per Walt Whitman and the Eritrean scholar Asmarom Legesse.
Whitman, perhaps the greatest American poet, mentions the now-famous phrase "I contain multitudes" in Song of Myself.
Asmarom, in his 1973 book Gada, writes about the assembly of multitudes, organized in a sort of pentarchy.
